Culture Materials

1) A small plastic container like a Margarine container (with lid).
2) A starter culture of micro-worms.
3) Food - any of these - oatmeal, cornmeal, baby cereal or bread
4) Yeast - baking yeast or brewers yeast

The best containers I found are ones that do not tightly close, leaving enough air flow for the culture. If not, punch a few small holes in the lid of your culturing container with a nail or something sharp. Then add your cereal, oatmeal or bread, add yeast and then add just enough water to make the medium look like breakfast oatmeal (soggy but not runny). Then add the starter culture of microworms. Try to keep the worms at room temperature. In a few days, millions of tiny microworms will be crawling up the sides of your container.

To harvest them, use your finger or a swab to scrape them off the walls of your container. Swish your finger or swab around in the tank. You should be able to harvest the worms 2-5 times a day.

How to start a new Culture

To start a new culture, just get another container with the same feeding medium and add a small/medium portion of your current culture to the new container.
